Big Brother Big Sister

BBBS is a befriending programme that aims to reach out to children from single-parent families between the ages of 10 -16 years old. Caring volunteers (the BIGS) who are trained by the agency are paired to a child for a minimum period of one year. During this time, the volunteer and child will meet 2-3hrs a week to share interests, hobbies and develop their friendship.

A BIG is a befriender who shows care and concern for the child. As a befriender you will:

  • Make time for relaxation and enjoyment with the child
  • Be present with them and affirm their sense of hope
  • Nurture self-esteem and confidence in the child
  • Model positive values, attitudes and effective coping strategies
  • Help the child discover his/her potential.

If you are interested in becoming a BIG, apply here.
